MÖBIUS THE POETRY MAGAZINE HITS ANOTHER HOME RUN
The prestigious Small Magazine Review, connected to Small Magazine Review, picked Möbius, The Poetry Magazine for the 5th consecutive year as one of the best poetry magazines. Editor-in-Chief Juanita Torrence-Thompson is assisted by Senior Associate Editor Dominick Arbolay, Associate Editor and proofreader, Cindy Hochman of Harrison/Hochman “100 Proof,” Proofreader Barbara Hantman all in NY and Ellaraine Lockie and Bill Roberts from the West Coast and mid-west respectfully.
In additon, Small Magazine Review wrote a glowing review of Möbius, The Poetry Magazine’s 29th Anniversary editon starting with the headline one dreams about, “JUST WONDERFUL!” Reviewer Pam Rosenblatt writes such poets as, “Ed Galing, Lyn Lifshin, Simon Perchik, Marge Piercy and A.D. Winans are just some of the spectacular poets found in this exciting issue of Möbius.” She also highlights former U.S. Poet Laureate, Rita Dove And Georgia Ann Banks Martin’s poems which appear on the first page as “wonderful, vivid, descriptive poems that start the magazine off in positive tones.”
Furthermore, she has anointed our former Queens Poet Laureate, Hal Sirowitz, with the distinction of illustrating how poetry can be fun by publishing his poem “My Baseball Story.” from Möbius.
Rosenblatt ends with this observation: “Möbius, The Poetry Magazine 2011 is a diverse, intriguing magazine that captures your attention and makes you think imaginatively and thoughtfully, as well as poetically.”

“Calling Möbius a poetry magazine is like calling ERIC CLAPTON a guitar player. It’s a lavishly-produced, silver-covered (no, I am not joking) exhibition-space for all sorts of poetry, published with a stanza-staggering professional allure that should scare off small magazines everywhere. Published from Flushing, New York, it is celebrating with this issue its quarter-century with no fewer than 148 poets on display, all under a variety of theme headings, such as “Family & Relationships,” “Art & Culture,” “The World About Us.,” and so on. This last category containing work on Darfur, the murder of Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya, the Middle East, Iraq, and a scathing satire, “The Cabinet Talks War,” from Arthur Gottlieb. Anyone who thinks American poets aren’t engaging with these subjects should think again. Some readers over here may recall the poet SAMUEL MENASHE, who visited Galway a few years ago... I have not run into Val Nolan, who is listed as teaching poetry at NUI Galway. His poem is dedicated to Megan Buckley, whom I think I may know. The work is wonderfully varied, a veritable anthology, and submissions are welcome. WELL WORTH A LOOK.”
